Thrifting Haul - Donate it to Us!

My mom has a regular customer at her Etsy shop who lives close to us. While conversing with my mom, she mentioned some items she was going to donate, but wanted to see if we wanted them first.

After seeing some mid century things, my mom immediately said yes!

Yesterday, when the customer came to pick up her most recent painting, we got some goodies too! And they're awesome.

First up are these gorgeous bird wall hangings. My mom and I duked it out over these. She loves the mid century vibe, I loved that they went with the birds on my pallet. I think they're going to end up in my bedroom.

I loved this old fan cover. Now I need to figure out a way to upcycle it. I love its shape!

I've got a few old cameras from my grand-uncle already displayed in my room. And now they have a new friend in this Brownie Starflash camera. So retro, so perfect!

I'm most excited about this! It's a Couroc owl plate, and it's amazing. The beautiful owl is inlaid on the plate, and it even has the wall hanger on the back. Love, love, love it!

Aren't these thermoses the most awesome thing ever? Loving the colors and patterns. I need to figure out a way to make them work in my home, because they're amazing.

The last thing was this atomic-style end table. My mom and I can't decide if it's actually old, or just styled to look old. But it doesn't really matter, because it's gold! I love gold-colored furnishings, and now I finally have one! It will be perfect by my armchair in my bedroom. I've been precariously balancing a book and coffee cup while sitting in it, so it will be super nice to have a table nearby!

We couldn't thank my mom's customer enough for giving up these awesome finds! And I've now decided I need to camp out at the thrift store she normally donates things to. If these are her get-rid-ofs, how amazing must the rest of her house be?

  1. I have seen on someone's blog recently a fan cover used as a "bulletin board"/photo display with clothes pins, I think, or for earrings, necklaces, bracelets. Mary

  2. The birds are great. Is there anything written on the backs of them indicating where they were made? I ask, because I saw two similar ones at a thrift store just yesterday. They were marked “Taiwan” (and there were only two—I like items in threes), so I passed them up.
    Perhaps, I made a mistake.

    1. Hi Lori! Only one of mine has a sticker on the back saying "made in India." There's nothing on the rest of them though. I probably would have passed up 2 as well. I'm a fan of items in odd numbers too! I'm going to probably put 3 of them together, and keep the 4th separate.

    2. Yep. They’ll look even nicer on the wall as three. They’re very Jonathan Livingston Seagullish, by the way.

  3. Holy moly, that's amazing that she just gave you all that stuff! I especially love the seagulls and the table - wow. And the fan grate looks great as-is - industrial wall art??

    1. I would love to see her house as well! I only recently became aware of the atomic style thanks to my mom and her love of that era - but it is so atomic!

    1. I think I will definitely keep it as is for art. And now I want cold weather to come so I can fill a thermos up and head outside! Thanks for stopping by Denise!

  7. All that stuff for free? You hit the thrifty jackpot for sure! The fan cover is super cool. I definitely think it would make a really neat picture holder. You'll have to let us know what you decide to do with it.
And I would guess that your table has some amount of age to it. Either way, it's pretty cool!
