Sometimes when I'm out thrifting, I find something that I immediately know my mom will love. And sure enough, when I show her, she usually gasps, grabs it, and displays it around the house. Sure, sometimes it was something I intended to resell, but that's ok.
Basically anything Mid Century, and she loves it. Although you could probably guess that by looking at her paintings. So now I know that if I ever want to resell something, I just have to hide it! But for now, here's a collection of thrifted finds that my mom hijacked.
I found this wooden flamingo at the antique mall my booth is in. He's so cute, and looks perfect in our library!
I found this wooden tiki man at Goodwill and knew she would love it! I'm still on the hunt for an authentic tiki mask for the wall, but no luck so far.
I actually found this vase a couple of years ago. I love the shiny finish, and needless to say, my mom did too!
I found this wooden cat in the toy aisle of a thrift store I frequent. Good tip by the way - search all the aisles, even those you don't think you'll find anything on. You never know when someone will set down a treasure in the wrong spot. Like this cat! He's amazing.
Again with the tikis! My mom's a big fan, and when I saw this mug I had to get it for her. She already had one similar to this that she stores some of her paint brushes in, but now he has a friend.
This is the find I'm most proud of. I was at Goodwill with my mom one day and saw this clock underneath some lamps. Thankfully I knew what I was looking at since my mom paints it. I immediately grabbed it and, to my mom's dismay, called across the store to her what I had found. I think she was worried someone would tackle me and take it. But we made it out of the store with the working clock in hand! It's a reproduction, but she doesn't mind. It looks perfect in her art studio.
So there you have it. Anything wood and mid century is not safe around my mom. But at least I still get to enjoy seeing these great finds!
